- Pollution and Health Hazards
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
Traditional inverters emit harmful gases that pollute indoor air. It also ends up in landfills which causes land pollution. The hanging wires and terminals can be hazardous to the safety of the house’s children and animals.
High-intensity fumes of lead can cause long-term diseases. Lead vapors from the lead acid battery are released in high concentrations when it is charged and discharged, making them extremely dangerous for children and adults. These lead vapors can cause long-term illnesses in people because they immediately enter the bloodstream and raise the level of lead there.
Solution by ESS for home:
Being a smart inverter, it automatically chooses the best AC power source for battery charging and supporting load during the day, which lowers the power consumption for battery charging and lowers the cost of electricity. Fitted with Lithium-ion batteries makes it more environmentally friendly than its counterparts as it can be recycled economically. There are no harmful fumes to worry about. The set-up is clean and safe for everyone in the house.
- Spilling of harmful battery water
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
Refills can cause water spillage. This water contains acid, often damaging the floor. It is also hazardous for kids and pets, making it a non-family-friendly option.
Solution by ESS for home:
ESS is based on a LiFePO4 battery, which doesn’t require any harmful liquid refilling. It’s easy to manage and replace, making it completely safe for kids and pets.
- Power Quality
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
When a load is connected to an inverter or UPS, the THD always changes, which causes harmonics and is bad for sensitive loads, especially IT loads. Its square wave output is less reliable due to the variation in THD once the load is attached to them. Unsafe to use with sensitive appliances, especially for IT loads.
Solution by ESS for home:
When a load is connected to them, ESS produces pure sine waves with lower THD than an inverter or UPS. Due to the extremely low THD variance, pure power may be continually maintained.
- Charging time
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
Lead acid batteries, especially tubular batteries, take a minimum of 10-12 hours to charge. In winter, acid and water expand and contract, so they can be used only once during the day since the charging takes more time.
Solution by ESS for home:
ESS gets charged in 3 hours as the Lithium battery charges faster. It can be used 4-5 times a day. Ideal for areas with frequent power cuts, such as India.
- Charging cost
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
Lead acid batteries, especially Tubular batteries, continue to charge even after being fully charged, which drives up the cost of electricity. Therefore, even when there are no power outages, an inverter or UPS uses at least 1 unit of electricity. The bigger size of Inverter/UPS even takes 3 to 5 units per day.
Solution by ESS for home:
With ESS’s revolutionary charging method, lithium is charged more quickly and doesn’t require additional charging to stay at 100% of its initial charge because its self-discharge is far lower than lead-acid batteries. Since its charging time is one-fourth that of a lead acid battery, it uses less electricity than an inverter or UPS by at least 30%.
- Life of the ESS
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
Due to the Lead Acid battery’s dependence on constant water filling, which the consumer cannot monitor, it has a much shorter lifespan than an ESS battery and needs to be replaced every 2-3 years.
Solution by ESS for home:
ESS will only require to change the Lithium battery in 7 to 10 years.
- Size and space
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
The tubular battery is very heavy and bulky, making it mandatory to change it every 2-3 years. This is quite difficult and cumbersome as it will need two people to hoist it, and if you have stairs, it will be difficult to get the 70 KG batteries inside for installation or repair. You might also need a trolley to conceal the battery.
Solution by ESS for home:
The sleek design of ESS ensures that less space is needed. No trolley is needed to move the battery. It weighs just 25% of a typical lead-acid-based home UPS/inverter.
- Refilling of battery
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
Consumers must periodically replace tubular batteries, and it must be done with distilled water each time. Since most consumers and dealers are unaware of this requirement, they frequently use alternative types of water, further shortening the battery’s lifespan.
Solution by ESS for home:
ESS doesn’t require refilling as it has a LiFePO4-based lithium-ion battery. It has an extremely long lifespan (3000 cycles) due to a discharge rate of just 20%.
- Self-diagnostics
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
No self-diagnosis mechanism, which means technicians might need to conduct multiple tests to even diagnose small errors.
Solution by ESS for home:
ESS for home provides a self-discharge measurement and a self-diagnosis feature which means no manual intervention is required.
- Bluetooth/Wifi
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
Home UPS/Inverter has no Bluetooth or Wifi capability, which is really inconvenient for modern users.
Solution by ESS for home:
ESS for home comes with optional Bluetooth/WiFi connectivity. Using the dedicated app, you can now easily check your ESS status and monitor and control it even when you are away.
- GPS
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
A home UPS/inverter can be easily stolen when you’re away from home, on vacation, or when you’ve left your home unprotected.
Solution by ESS for home:
This optional feature makes it an anti-theft product that is immune to theft, as you can find its location in real-time.
- Remote Diagnosis
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
There is no support for remote diagnosis, meaning whenever there is a problem with your home UPS/inverter, you have to be physically present to do any kind of diagnosis.
Solution by ESS for home:
You can diagnose your ESS system even remotely if you have your smartphone with you. With it’s Wi-fi connectivity feature and dedicated mobile app, you can monitor, diagnose and generate reports without having to be physically present.
- Looks
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
Nothing can be as bland as a home UPS/inverter. These inverters look really clunky and are so big that they are bound to look out of place no matter where you keep them.
Solution by ESS for home:
ESS for home looks stunning and modern and perfectly blends with any environment. Its beautiful design is difficult to match with any traditional inverter on the market.
- Switching technique
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
Traditional home UPS/Inverter requires manual switching which is time taking and cumbersome.
Solution by ESS for home:
ESS systems switch automatically, and switching is fast. As soon as the current in your house goes off, ESS will just switch itself on within 2ms – 5ms.
- All-in-one backup
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
Users need to buy different UPS systems for IT equipment and home appliances, which means double the cost.
Solution by ESS for home:
One ESS system is all you need, whether you want to use it for IT or any other sensitive loads. It can handle every appliance perfectly without having to buy a separate unit for every backup need in the home.
- Manual settings
Problem with Home UPS/Inverter:
Its settings need to be set as per individual requirements, which means you are always in need of an expert.
Solution by ESS for home:
ESS for homes requires no manual intervention, even when it comes to settings, making it hassle-free for everyday users.

Long Life
What is it?
The ESS can work smoothly for 50 years with very little maintenance.
On the other hand, the Generator has a life span of only 10 years and requires regular maintenance on an average of 250Hrs-500Hrs because of its moving parts.
Why is it important?
Because of its long life, ESS is more cost-efficient and easy to maintain for a long time, which is crucial for giving complete peace of mind.
Noiseless Operation
What is it?
Generators are notorious for being noisy and causing a lot of pollution due to diesel usage.
Why is it important?
Our ESS works on batteries and has a smooth, noiseless operation, and is completely pollution free.
Freedom to use ESS with existing Home UPS/ Generator
What is it?
Using an energy storage system with an existing generator give plenty of flexibility, especially at the initial stage of making a switch.
Why is it important?
- Su-vastika has designed ESS to work with the Generator in several ways:
- As a secondary power backup source or the areas where mains are not available. The Generator can be installed at the back of the Heavy-Duty ESS. Our Artificial Intelligence (AI) based software will automatically switch the generator ON in case of low battery. This allows you to keep your devices running on the generator while the ESS charges simultaneously.
- As a power supply to charge batteries. Our ESS can withstand a generator’s uneven power supply and convert this power to a healthy, regulated power supply that charges your batteries.
- As a temporary power backup source. In the rare case of a complete battery discharge during a power outage, our Artificial Intelligence (AI) based software will automatically put your load onto the generator with zero switch-over time, bypassing the inverter temporarily and allowing your existing generator to act as an extra backup source. The bypass is so fast you won’t even notice!
- There are few remote areas around the world where no grid supply is available at all hence there is a requirement for two generators as one generator can work continuously for 8 hours only, after which it needs rest, so the combination of ESS along with the generator is an ideal combination as the battery charging can happen while the generator is working and the generator load will shift for one to two hours on the ESS after which generator can start again. This way, one more generator in parallel can be saved.
Cost efficient- Saving up to 35% in electricity cost in 5 years
What is it?
Installation of a power backup system is just the beginning. There are several costs associated with it when it comes to maintaining and running the system.
Why is cost efficiency important?
The initial investment in machinery for both ESS and home UPS/inverter is almost the same. However, there is a significant difference in running cost, maintenance cost & effort.
The cost advantage of ESS over home UPS/inverter.
- Running Cost: The ESS runs on lithium-ion batteries that don’t require filling, while the home UPS/inverter runs on lead-acid that require frequent filling.
- Maintenance Cost: The ESS running on Lithium batteries requires almost no maintenance compared to the home UPS/inverter, which requires maintenance every 300 running hours by trained technicians.
- Manual Effort: Having trained technicians to perform regular maintenance every 500 hours further increases the home UPS/inverter‘s cost. On the other hand, the ESS has mandatory checks by service engineers just once in six months.
No Safety Issues
What is it?
Diesel Generator sets are notorious for their safety issues, such as fire hazards. Storing fuel for Generators in commercial premises can be hazardous, as it can lead to a fire in the premises, especially if the safety precautions taken are not adequate.
Why is it important?
The ESS developed by Su-vastika is safe and has no fire risk as it runs on batteries and electronic and electrical equipment.
Technical glitches are not likely to occur. However, we are prepared for all types of situations.
In case a glitch does happen:
Our Online monitoring solution will automatically be made aware of a failure, a customer call will be logged, and the service engineer will be informed with an automatic response system and will try to resolve the call ASAP
Our built-in Galvanic Isolation System protects against electric shock and suppresses any harmful electrical noise. Our ESS system also provides better power quality than what is received from the main supply. It is safe for the person operating it, even at an industrial establishment.
Our ESS has a high Crest Factor of 3:1, which means that it can take almost three times the more load for the High inrush current required by some heavy machinery or motors that take very high surge current when they are starting for the first time
The largest system we have is a single ESS of 500 KVA. This can be further augmented depending on individual requirements. It can easily run a 1MW load if 2 units are installed on site. By distributing the load to multiple ESS systems, we can ensure that the ESS generates the required output voltage effectively and all your devices keep running in the event of a power failure.
Better protection for Sensitive devices
What is it?
In any establishment, there are costly, sensitive devices that cannot withstand sudden fluctuations in voltage. The problem is that most power backup systems allow a sudden rush of current and cannot protect the devices from the influx of current during voltage fluctuations.
Why is it important?
Our ESS will not just keep your sensitive appliances safe, but it will actively protect them as well. We have developed technologies like Soft Start System and Automatic Voltage Regulation, specifically keeping your needs in mind.
Soft Start System: Unlike traditional inverters, which allow a sudden inrush of current, which can be harmful to your machinery, our ESS gives power when the appliances are started for the first time. It gives voltage gradually so that your sensitive devices don’t get any jerk voltage or spikes. Switching time is so quick that the equipment will not stop if the mains power is disconnected. The soft start system increases and maintains the life of the appliances.
Automatic Voltage Regulation: Voltage fluctuations are common occurrences. Whenever there is a Low Supply voltage or High Supply voltage, and the supply rises or drops below the Safe voltage range, our ESS seamlessly switches to the battery power, keeping all your machinery and equipment safe. Moreover, the power quality produced in Battery Mode is better than the power quality provided by the electricity distribution companies or by the government as our ESS provides Pure Sine Wave output having THD ≤5%, which is a far better quality power compared to generators.
No intervention is required. Whether the power fails, the voltage falls below the safety limit, or the voltage increases beyond safety limits, the ESS works automatically without any manual intervention.
Ability to control ESS wirelessly (Optional)
What is it?
When a ESS is connected to Wi-Fi, it gives the freedom to monitor and control ESS without being there in-person.
Having the ability to monitor and control ESS via wi-fi was something that was an unheard-of feature.
Why is it important?
Our ESS systems have Wi-Fi and GSM connectivity (Optional). Our application will monitor your ESS and send regular reports to Su-vastika technicians. In case of any issues, an automatic alert will be sent, and a service call will be made.
- Wi-fi features in ESS make it extremely easy for you to check the status of backup time along with load status, which will be shown on the screen (in wattage) so that you can check the consumption of each of your appliances.
- You can even constantly check the voltage coming to your home or office when the ESS is working on the grid or mains mode.
- In cases of voltage fluctuations, the ESS will protect the applications by switching on the battery mode, which can be easily viewable to the customer.
- You will not only be notified about alerts such as overload or short circuits on your app screen but also get timely recommendations for things you can do to resolve the situation.
- The power backup solution provided by Su-vastika has Wi-Fi and GSM connectivity (Optional). Our application will monitor your ESS and send regular reports to Su-vastika technicians. In case of any issues, an automatic alert will be sent, and a service call will be made.
- Our Online monitoring System will keep track of the Battery Bank usage and send an alert when the replacement of the battery bank is required (Optional).
Flexibility to increase backup time
What is it?
Flexibility to increase the backup time as per the changing need is important for many users, especially in the commercial sector.
Why is it important?
By increasing backup time, a user can match their changing needs without having to worry about buying new power backup devices every time.
There are 2 primary factors that determine backup time: the total load of the machines that require
backup and the duration of the backup, or in other words- the number of batteries to be installed.
To increase backup time:
- More batteries can be added, and the battery bank can be designed in parallel.
- Solar-generated power can be combined with the existing system
Freedom to get ESS with Solar Features (Optional)
ESS by Su-vastika also comes with a solar feature allowing batteries to be charged using solar power. This way, the cost of the system can be recovered in just 2-3 years since the cost of power generation using Solar Panels is very low and they also last up to 25 years, which will further reduce the running costs.
The Solar-based ESS can be installed in various places where the space for solar panels is there, and solar can be properly utilized, and the cost to produce the electricity will be very low, there is no alternative to such a cheap electricity cost.
Battery charging will depend on the size of the solar panels installed and the size of the solar charge controller. In this case, the Heavy-Duty behaves like an Off Grid Solar ESS, and it can cut off the mains supply and run completely on solar and batteries. This, Saves the cost of electricity, Increases the backup time, and Charges the batteries simultaneously.
Even if power is available on the grid, the solar-based system will be able to run by leveraging solar and battery power (when available), which will again save the cost of electricity.
