UPS is short for Uninterruptible Power Supply, allows electrical load to keep running and provides power in the event of a power failure.
A UPS system utilizes DC power stored in the battery as its backup source. During normal operation, the power from AC mains is directly supplied to the output through a static transfer switch. At the same time, the AC is converted to DC to charge battery. When there is a power outage and primary supply breaks, the battery stops charging and the static switch transfers the output line to the inverter side very quickly. At the same time, the inverter starts drawing current from the battery which is then supplied to the AC load.
Su-vastika uses advanced Static switches in its ESS that reduces switching time to just 2ms to 5ms, which is fast enough to prevent a computer and majority of sensitive equipment from resetting. Because of its strong R&D and experience of its able Mentor, Su-vastika understands the power back up need of its customers across industries and most importantly it’s our Patent Technology as well.
It has designed a range of state-of-the-art ESS starting from 10KVA to 500KVA (3 Phase) that provides.
Who can use an ESS?
Anyone who needs to run High Capacity Loads where generators are being used, can run the same load on the ESS too. There is a misconception that Generators can’t be replaced with UPS. However, our ESS range is being used in almost every industry, from the hospital industry to the IT industry. Our Three Phase power backup solutions are available from 10KVA to 500KVA range.
Applicable areas of 100KVA ESS are:
The ESS can work smoothly for 50 years with very little maintenance.
The Generator on the other hand has a life span of only 10 years and requires regular maintenance on an average of 250Hrs-500Hrs because of its moving parts.
Unlike a Generator where an attendant is mandatory to be on duty but for our ESS we don’t recommend having any attendant. However, we offer training to the maintenance staff so that it’s easy for them to maintain without attending the ESS on a continuous basis.
Not at all. Generators are notorious for being noisy and causing a lot of pollution due to diesel usage, however our ESS works on batteries and has smooth noiseless operation and is completely pollution free.
Yes, it is compatible with generators. It can be used with the Generator in several ways.
Storing fuel for Generators in commercial premises can be hazardous, as it can lead to fire in the premises, especially if the safety precautions taken are not adequate.
The ESS is safe and does not have any fire risk as it runs on batteries along with the electronic and electrical equipment.
The initial investment on machinery for both ESS and Generator is almost same, however there is a significant difference in running cost, maintenance cost & effort.
Manual Effort: Having trained technicians to carry out regular maintenance on every 500 hours increases the cost of running a generator further. The ESS on the other hand has mandatory checks by service engineers just once in a six months
Infrastructure required depends on the type of battery being used and capacity. Smaller backup load requirements will require smaller spaces
The ESS is designed to require little to no maintenance. However, at Su-vastika, we provide services to keep your products in top-notch condition: An AMC contract to service your UPS every 3 months, and battery upkeep is done regularly depending on the type of battery bank used. Our systems come with an online monitoring feature (Optional), and GSM and WIFI compatible applications that monitor the UPS and battery life. In case of any issues, alerts will be sent automatically, and the stored data can be checked on the display of the UPS. Yes. Absolutely. Our ESS will not just keep your sensitive appliances safe, but it will actively protect them as well. We have developed technologies like Soft Start System and Automatic Voltage Regulation specifically keeping your needs in mind.
Soft Start System: Unlike traditional inverters, that allow a sudden inrush of current, which can be harmful to your machinery, our ESS gives power when the appliances are started for the first time. It gives voltage gradually so that your sensitive devices don’t get any jerk voltage or spikes. Switching time is so quick that the equipment will not stop if the mains power is disconnected. The soft start system increases and maintains the life of the appliances.
Automatic Voltage Regulation: Voltage fluctuations are common occurrences. Whenever there is Low Supply voltage or High Supply voltage, and supply rises or drops below the Safe voltage range, our ESS seamlessly switches to the battery power, keeping all your machinery and equipment safe. Moreover, the power quality produced in Battery Mode is better than the power quality provided by the electricity distribution companies or by the government as our ESS provides Pure Sine Wave output having THD ≤5% which is a far better quality power compare to generators.
No, everything is automatic, designed at your ease and convenience in mind. Whether the power fails, voltage falls below the safety limit or voltage increases beyond safety limits, the ESS works automatically without any manual intervention.
Technical glitches are not likely to occur, however, we are prepared for all types of situations. In case a glitch does happen:
Our Online monitoring solution will automatically be made aware of a failure, a customer call will be logged, and service engineer will be informed with automatic response system and will try to resolve the call ASAP.
Yes absolutely. Our built-in Galvanic Isolation System protect against electric shock and suppresses any harmful electrical noise. Our UPS system also provides better power quality than what is received from the mains supply.
The ESS has a high Crest Factor of 3:1, which means that it can take almost 3 times the more load for the High inrush current required by some heavy machinery or motors that take very high surge current when they are starting for the first time
The largest system we have is a single ESS of 500 KVA. This can be further augmented depending upon the individual requirements. It can easily run 1MW load if 2 units are installed on site. Distributing the load to multiple UPS systems, we can ensure that the UPS generates required output voltage effectively and all your devices keep running in the event of a power failure.
Yes. Our ESS systems have Wi-Fi and GSM connectivity (Optional). Our application will monitor your UPS and send regular reports to Su-vastika technicians. In case of any issues, an automatic alert will be sent, and a service call will be made.
Our ESS comes with 3 types of batteries which can be selected depending on your load, back up time as well as battery life.
There are 2 primary factors that determine backup time: total load of the machines that require backup, and duration of the backup, or in other words- number of batteries to be installed.
Battery life depends on its usage. In practical terms, the power failure in a particular area will define the battery life of the system. Depending on the battery type, if the power failure happens occasionally and the duration is also very less then:
Lithium can last for more than 10 years..
Other battery systems, if properly maintained, can last up to 5 years.
Our Heavy-Duty UPS is also equipped to prolong battery life and manage battery health:
Su-vastika will always provide you with information about battery upkeep and battery life, which other companies will not be able to.
Our Online monitoring System will keep a track of the Battery Bank usage and send an alert when the replacement of the battery bank is required.
For short power outages batteries do not get discharged very quickly and will recharge extremely fast as well..
For power outages longer than 3 hours battery charging times depend on the battery type:
Battery charging will depend on the size of the solar panels installed and the size of the solar charge controller. In this case the Heavy-Duty behaves like an Off Grid Solar UPS and it can cut off the mains supply and run completely on solar and batteries. This
