“Indian Factories Ditch Generators for Lithium Batteries”

Battery Storage Systems are very important for Indian Power Systems, especially to replace diesel generators and produce Power through solar and Wind power, which is easily available in India. Lithium battery storage systems are the proven technology in storage solutions, and they will take shape very fast for the industry replacement of Diesel Generators.https://www.thethirdpole.net/en/energy/why-do-batteries-matter-for-india-energy-transition/

1. Maruti Suzuki: In 2020, Maruti Suzuki announced that it would replace the generator sets at its Manesar plant with a 5 MW lithium-ion battery bank. This move is expected to save the company around Rs. 10 crore per year in fuel costs.

2. Hindustan Unilever: In 2021, Hindustan Unilever announced that it would install a 1 MW lithium-ion battery bank at its factory in Pondicherry. This move will help the company reduce carbon emissions by around 1,000 tonnes annually.

3. Tata Motors: In 2022, Tata Motors announced that it would install a 2 MW lithium-ion battery bank at its plant in Pune. This move will help the company reduce its reliance on the grid and improve its power backup capabilities.

But the small factory in Bhiwadi leapt and installed a 70KVA Lithium battery bank to save the fuel cost of 1 lakh a month to switch to the Lithium battery bank, which is charged through the lithium inverter through the grid power, which is very cheap compared to the Diesel cost.

4. Sun Food tech. Bhiwadi Rajasthan is a small factory which has replaced the 125 KVA Diesel generator to install the 70 KVA Lithium Battery bank with a Lithium Inverter as a backup from Su-vastika company, which is making waves in lithium battery banks and Energy Storage Systems as a brand.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8_3fSIczTA&t=40s

Already, one hotel in India moved to the Lithium battery bank of 200 kVA capacity, replacing the Diesel generators of 375 KVA.https://suvastika.com/green-revolution-in-indian-hospitality-first-hotel-to-run-on-lithium-battery/

Lithium battery banks offer several advantages over traditional generator sets, including:

  • Reduced emissions: Lithium battery banks do not produce any emissions, while generator sets produce harmful pollutants such as carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
  • Lower operating costs: Lithium battery banks require no maintenance than generator sets and can be cheaper. The cost of installing the Lithium battery is recovered compared to the generator in almost three years as the running cost of Diesel Generators is increasing daily.
  • Improved power quality: Lithium battery banks can provide cleaner and more stable power than generator sets.
  • Seamless Power: the biggest advantage is seamless Power when the Power is switched from the grid to the battery bank or Lithium power bank to the grid, which powers any machinery equipment without any switching time and running them uninterruptedly as the Diesel generator switching time is the major challenge where the time is taken to switch on the machinery and all other equipment.
  • Digital Warranty: The three years digital On site warranty is another advantage to be considered.
  • Wi-Fi Based IOT monitoring: The whole project is monitored Online to see the parameters and logs of all then faults are being maintained.

As a result of these advantages, lithium battery banks are a promising technology for reducing emissions and improving power quality in India.

  1. […] Improved efficiency: Lithium batteries are more efficient than diesel generators, storing more energy and providing more backup power. The wastage of material during the switching time is a big saving along with the savings in the workforce involved in running DG and bringing the Diesel.https://suvastika.com/indian-factories-ditch-generators-for-lithium-batteries/ […]
